I forgot how much students enjoy making beaded bracelets and necklaces for themselves and for friends. One student brought beads to make a bracelet into Health and the beads and bracelet making are now huge in my classroom.
We have a few extra minutes left in class, students head up to my craft cart and get beads.
The beads and bracelet making is a great Social Emotional Learning activity for students. They love to look in the bowls of beads to find a very specific bead that they want for a bracelet. They have made alot of bracelets and a few necklaces but the bracelets are the biggest draw.
I have had students who are not in my Health Class come in and ask if they can have some beads. The whole school knows I have beads. They come to me for beads. I have also used beads for activity day event. Everyone, likes the beads and wants to fit in and have as many bracelets around their wrist as possible.
It is an activity that anyone can do and you don't need to be skilled at making beaded bracelets. Tying is a whole other ballgame when it comes to tying them. Not a lot of students can tie the bracelets so we work on kindness and asking students who can tie them to tie them. We have watched YouTube videos on how to make them and that has helped with teaching kids to tie their own.
The project I have up is for a wide variety of different colors, different shapes and sizes of beads and awesome string colors for the students to use.
I think the cool string color and the beads will make some awesome bracelets.
